Hello everyone.

My name is Kent, my Chinese name is Keung, and I also have a Korean name, which is MoonKang, and my parents and I have been a homestay family for two years now, and we have hosted a total of 34 students from Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong. Our main goal is to provide a place where students can feel at home while they are away from their hometown. We have hosted Korean and Japanese that are in the WEST program, Embassy and Kaplan school, and ALI. We really love being a homestay family, and we enjoy meeting people from other countries! So far, we hosted a total of 34 students, and we are looking forward to host more!

About us - I am originally from Hong Kong but I grew up in San Diego all my life, and I am currently a university student, and studying Linguistics. Other than my native Cantonese, I also speak English, Mandarin and Korean, and a tiny bit of Japanese. I always try to help students on improving their English so always feel free to ask me for help! Sometimes I like to take students out to eat, or grocery shopping, and to meet other people. My parents originally came from Guangzhou, China and have been living in the US for over thirty years. My parents are the main owners of our home.

Rooms - We have two rooms available to rent out to students. Our rooms are private but we have had students that did shared room before, as long as both students are willing to share, we have no problem with having shared rooms. Our home has two kitchens, living rooms, and two bathrooms. One is for homestay students to use, and the other is for us family to use. The homestay student living room has television, sofa, and tables. The kitchen for homestay students have a fridge, sink, and pans, but please, clean up after yourselves! As homestay students will be sharing the bathroom with each other, please keep it clean. We are NOT responsible and will NOT clean up the homestay student's bathroom for you.

Prices - We charge $700 a month, which includes use of WI-FI, electricity, water, and use of laundry machines. Deposit is $200, which we will refund to you once you move out. If you are planning to move out, please let us know two weeks ahead of time. We expect you to pay rent on the first day of arrival, and the first day of the month. If you need to pay rent late for any reason, please let us know!

Food & Water - For the most part, food is NOT included, only on special occasions but prepare to make your own food while you stay with us.

Transportation - The bus stop is five minute walk from our house. Most of the students we hosted go to downtown for their English school, and by bus, it takes 45-50 minutes, and it takes you directly to downtown without having to transfer. The trolley takes 20 minutes to get to downtown but the nearest trolley station from our home is a twenty-minute walk. Sometimes, if you do need a ride to go somewhere or to come home, I have no problem giving a ride but do not expect me to be your daily personal Uber Driver! :)

Rules - If you are interested in staying with us, we will provide a PDF file of the rules in our home!

Safety - Our neighborhood is very safe. We have been living in the same house for over 30 years, and we have not experienced anything bad. We have surveillance which is monitored between 12 am to 6 am, and we have an alarm system so don't worry :)

Pick-Up - If you are arriving in San Diego by plane or moving in from another place to our home, I can come pick you up!
